Donald Trump's prominence in global politics, particularly among post-war allies of the United States, is quickly declining. Due to Trump's economic and social connections with President Putin and other members of the Russian oligarchy, many countries are distancing themselves from the USA both economically and militarily. NATO's effectiveness is being questioned, as is the relevance of the G-7. 

Canada, along with its citizens, and the majority of Americans have recognized that fentanyl and border security are not central issues in the trade war and political dysfunction between the two countries. President Trump's global expansionist policies, which he has consistently articulated, lend increasing credibility to this stance. I am sure that this is not the end of this even if the tariffs somehow magically disappear. Trumps continued rhetorical barbs are a clear indication of his end game. 

The reason I am expressing my gratitude to him today is quite straightforward. Donald has accomplished something that no Prime Minister, Premier, war, or religious movement has achieved. Canadian Unity! His actions although in his mind would divide and conquer us has galvanized Canadians from coast to coast. Provincial and Federal Governments have joined arm and arm to remove interprovincial trade barriers and sit down in the same room with one common goal the love and protection of Country and its Citizens.  

So Yes, thank you Donald! Thank you for unifying Canada for one cause and purpose to protect ourselves against the biggest threat our Nation has ever had to face, and that is you, Donald! You have lost, and you don't have the courage to admit your own defeat.
